MBBS abroad guide 2026

MBBS abroad, explained honestly

Two destinations, real costs, eligibility and the NMC rules that decide whether your degree will count in India.

Overview

Why so many NEET-qualified students study abroad

India has far more NEET-qualified students than affordable MBBS seats. Government seats go to top ranks, and private college fees can run above ₹1 crore. Studying abroad at a recognised university offers a practical alternative.

The key is choosing a programme that meets NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021 — otherwise the degree cannot be used to practise in India.
